Crime Reduction Shop

The Ipswich Crime Reduction Panel offers a range of goods that can really make a difference to your personal security and help to spread the crime reduction message. Everything you see here is available for sale from the Ipswich Police Station although it is best to call the Crime Reduction Office if you would like to make a specific purchase, especially of the Disklok, as stock at the front desk is limited. The full range is always available from Panel members whenever we attend local events too.

All money raised goes to help to fund the work of the Panel.

Ultraviolet marker pens Marking your property can deter burglars and help the police to get your property back to you if it is stolen

Property marking deters thieves. They find identifiable property dangerous to handle and difficult to dispose of. It also helps the police to return your property if it is found. Every year, property worth thousands of pounds is recovered by the police and not returned to its rightful owners, simply because it cannot be properly identified.

Using a ultra violet pen mark your postcode and house number on your property - this provides a simple and unique way of identifying that it belongs to you! Take care when marking antiques or items of high value - check with your insurance company first. Take photographs of any items that cannot be coded, eg jewellery, and keep a list, paying attention to any distinguishing marks which may be used to identify the item.

Of course the best thing to do is to protect your home against the thief but if someone did break in and steal your things you need to describe them fully and accurately to the police. Postcoding is an easy, cheap and effective way of doing this.
